Viva uMzansi! Elections 2024

Posted in Feature Article on May 13, 2024

It’s the month we’ve waited for, for far more than 5 years. While South Africa has tumbled into decay over the last 20 (or so) years, the PEOPLE have had to suffer the consequences of diminishing resources, excuse after excuse and in the end – many have fallen in to financial and emotional turmoil.

1994 felt like meeting the perfect partner, only to find out, after the honeymoon, that ‘partner’ is abusive and controlling. Many know what it’s like trying to break free from that toxicity – it can take decades. Which it has!

30 years on… and the PEOPLE are ready to speak. The PEOPLE of the country have learnt to unite. The PEOPLE have learnt to solve problems and have undoubtedly become some of the most resilient in the world. A changing South Africa now seems prepared to hold the current leaders accountable for long-standing corruption, poverty, high unemployment and a deteriorating business climate.

This year's elections in South Africa carry significant weight, these elections are a critical crossroad for shaping the nation's future trajectory. It's not just about choosing a political party; it's about selecting the Architects of our collective Future.

Just as we ‘chased the sun’ to find the best players for our national rugby team – we want someone who knows how to lead, manage and - of course – ‘score tries’ for our country. No excuses, only progress. So, whether you're a seasoned voter or a newcomer to the ballot box, this year's elections are crucial.

I’m sure you’re feeling swamped with a frenzy of political promises and campaign slogans. But while you’re working through these, don’t neglect another very important matter that often gets pushed aside: your financial affairs and the future planning for your loved ones.

In South Africa, we’ve had to become optimists to survive, but now is the time to be a realist. Let’s face it, while all of these politicians and parties might promise a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow nation, promises can fall to ruin once that ‘partner’ gets what they want.

Having a solid financial plan is your best defence against the unpredictable rollercoaster ride of politics. After all, who needs an unreliable partner when you’ve got your own well-balanced budget and a stash of emergency funds?

At 1.618, we are ready to help you make a change in your future. While you focus on going and making a change in the future of the country.

We encourage everyone to make their mark on the 29th May 2024.

Let’s BE the change!
