K.I.S.S… Keeping it simple and straightforward
Posted in Wellness on Jul 12, 2024
In the world of fitness, amidst all the complex workout routines and advanced equipment, sometimes we overlook the power of basic movements. Physical movement is crucial for our overall health and well-being, and at its core, simplicity often reigns supreme. One such fundamental exercise that stands the test of time is the humble push-up. The Push up has been our movement of the month for July at Critical Fitness and all of our members are encouraged to work on the progressions.
Push-ups are a classic bodyweight exercise that require no equipment, yet provide a full-body workout. They primarily target the chest, shoulders, and triceps while also engaging the core muscles for stability. By performing a set of push-ups regularly, you can strengthen your upper body, improve muscle tone, and enhance your overall physical endurance.
The mechanics of a push-up are straightforward: Start in a plank position with your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart, lower your body until your chest nearly touches the floor, then push yourself back up to the starting position. It's a simple yet effective movement that yields impressive results when done consistently.
For those who are new to push-ups or looking for a modification, there are alternative options available. Wall push-ups, where you perform a push-up movement against a wall, are a great starting point for beginners. Another modification is to do push-ups on your knees, reducing the amount of body weight you need to lift and making the exercise more manageable while still reaping its benefits.
Now, here's a challenge for you: How about joining our 2000 rep challenge? The goal is to complete 2000 push-ups over the course of two months. Whether you're a seasoned fitness enthusiast or just starting your journey to a healthier lifestyle, this challenge can push you to test your limits, build strength, and achieve a sense of accomplishment.
So, are you ready to take on the push-up challenge with us and transform your body one rep at a time? Remember, sometimes the simplest exercises are the most effective. Embrace the push-up, feel the burn, and watch your body grow stronger with each repetition.
