Make it a Happy Holiday Season

Here’s a few tips on staying mentally and physically healthy this festive season:
MINDFUL EATING: We’re not saying that you should stay away from your favourite holiday treats. Mindful eating means being present when eating. Savouring the flavours and textures of food, whilst being aware of what you are eating and not unconsciously popping food into your mouth. It’s all about balance… eat a little junk and counter it with a lot of nutritious sides.
SLEEP: We can’t stress enough the importance of good sleep. It will help regulate your mood (and festive season stress) as well as prevent you from getting sick. You will need good quality sleep too, which means at least 7 to 8 hours, with no technology (cellphone or television) for up to 30min before your sleep.
THE DRAMA WILL COME: As much as we love coming together to spend quality time with our families at the end of the year, it will be inevitable that drama will ensue – bringing with it conflict and stress. The best you can do is know that it is unavoidable and have a plan for when it comes; maybe go for a quiet drive, walk, or spend a little time meditating in your room…
KEEP MOVING: One way to destress is to exercise. Make a plan around your busy festive season schedule to fit in at least 30min of exercise each day.
